Spring blooms around my garden
Er
Ists
Frühling lässt sein blaues Band
Wieder flattern durch die Lüfte;
Süße, wohlbekannte Düfte
Streifen ahnungsvoll das Land.
Veilchen träumen schon,
Wollen balde kommen.
—Horch, von fern ein leiser Harfenton!
Frühling, ja du bists!
Dich habe ich vernommen!
Eduard Mörike 1829

This poem is so beautiful,
I had to post the original version.

It Is
Spring
Spring lets her blue ribbon
Flutter in the breeze again;
Sweet, familiar scents
Drift with promise o'er the land.
Already violets lie dreaming,
Longing to unfold.
—Hark, a harp sound so faint from afar!
Spring, it is you!
I can hear you coming!
Translation: Charles L. Cingolani

I am getting ready for our big trip.
Just ten more days.
Going to Europe.
To my nephew's wedding in a castle.
To see my family and friends.
It's been a very long time since I've been home.
Cannot wait, so exciting.

Have a beautiful weekend!

Ah, Deutsche Dichtung. Moerike ist mir sehr lieb.
You lucky lady, going ‘home’; I haven’t been for years although I am not far away. But there is nobody to visit and to go as a tourist feels strange.
Gute Reise and say hello to the old Heimat for me please.
Sounds fun to get overseas. I like the pink blossoms, is that a flowering almond?
ReplyDeleteGute Reise! Wo geht es denn hin? In die fränkische Heimat?

What a profusion of flowers you have. I am finally getting around after being absent for almost 4 months from the internet. After getting back to our ranch in British Columbia we had a few snows still, but today we are breaking records only just over a week from our last snow of 90 degrees. It's a cooker outside which will finally bring all my blossoms out. They are just budding right now. I love your spring poem. I was just working on one last night for my next blog when I get more time. It's all about gardening right now and with this weather the I have to work a little faster. Just my more body can't take it. Hope you have a wonderful trip. I so love visiting castles.
